Art Collaboration Between Niam Jain and The Good Doctor
In 2019, Naim Jain gained his first opportunity to work with a TV show. It all began when the directors of the hit TV show “The Good Doctor” wrote to Niam to rent two of his paintings for the purpose of using them on the set. After a year, when the show was renewed, the directors purchased the same two paintings.
The Good Doctor is about a young autistic surgeon, Shaun Murphy, who has savant syndrome, he relocates from a quiet country life to join the surgical unit at the prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. The show’s underlying message is that individuals with neurodivergent behaviours are capable of pursuing the same dreams and obtaining the same goals as those who are neuro-typical.
The symmetry between what the show represents for neuro-divergent people and what Niam is able to create resulted in a beautiful collaboration. Both the main character in the show, The Good Doctor, and Niam are able to reach success and create a life for themselves, not despite their neurodivergentcy but because of it. This partnership is inspiring as it demonstrates breaking down barriers that still exist for those on the autism spectrum such as finding successes in a chosen career.
The first painting of Niams showcased in the Good Doctor is a beautiful 12”x12” work that appears in the main character, Dr. Shaun Murphy’s room.
The second picture is a red impasto which is featured during a scene in a hallway.
Through this opportunity with The Good Doctor, Niam has opened a new avenue for himself and has demonstrated the business relationships he is capable of. Niam’s art work continues to be available for rent and would make the perfect addition to any show, event or more. If you are interested in renting one of Niam’s paintings you can acquire it through the art rentals section on his website.
