Niam Jain: Live Painting At Mosaic Festival
The Canadian Community Arts Initiative (CCAI) represents visual art, literary art, dance, theater, film and music for the enjoyment and education of the community. CCAI regularly collaborates with artists and organizations to support artistic activities in and around Mississauga and the GTA.
In the summer of 2019 they reached out to Niam Jain to be an honored guest at their Mosaic
Festival event. Niam was offered to do a live painting for festival goers to watch as he worked
on the piece. This experience was something that Niam Jain has never tried before, normally
painting in his studio or at home, but just as he has proven before there is no obstacle Niam
can overcome.
Niam being a part of The Mosaic Festival brought diversity to the art space and opened the
conversation around autism in a positive light. He showcased his artistic abilities and did it all
while outside his comfort zone. The Mosaic Festival set up a calming area for Niam to work and
asked his large audience to observe from a respectful distance. This small adaptation from the
Mosaic Festival allowed Niam to work comfortably and create his outstanding art just as he
normally would. Niam Jain drew inspiration from the festival going on around him, taking the
sounds of the music, the chatter of the people and exciting scenery and translating it all onto
the canvas before everyone’s eye
Niam’s inspiring story of overcoming challenges to paint at the festival resulted in an article
being written in the Mosaic Festival Magazine. The article talked about Niam’s
accomplishments as an artist.
