The Making of Abstract Art ‘Spring’
Niam Jain’s abstract art titled ‘Spring’ is inspired by his experience of diverse Canadian landscapes. Completed in 2024, it is an abstraction capturing the change of seasons and the full breath of spring colours, caught in a playful dance.
Niam listened to relaxing piano music and rain sounds while he began his abstract art of ‘Spring’ outdoors, taking full advantage of the warm weather. Consistent with Niam’s palette of colours, this painting is dominated by pastels, soft and romantic. There is a certain vibrancy and love of colour that is depicted in “Springs”.
It is interesting to watch Niam paint. His commitment to creativity always results in surprise. I never know when an abstract art is complete. Niam does not have a preconceived notion of his painting – he doesn’t plan toward completion. He will simply step back, put his tool down, close his paints and be finished.
Niam is inspired by the glory of nature, rays of sunlight and physical beauty. In response, he applies pigment to the canvas in bold strokes of vibrant colours. The bold lines in this painting are unique, a new development in his visual vocabulary and a motif characteristic of his developing style.
Spring with its soft palette captures the natural abstract beauty of Canadian landscape, a recurring theme in Jain’s art. From rolling hills, dewy grass, shrubs, flowers, rain, rainbows, Niam is able to capture it all. The intersection of nature or the interplay between art and nature yields some of Jain’s most captivating work’s like Spring.
