The Making of ‘Roses’

What inspired Niam Jain to paint to Roses? It’s usually a thought, an emotion or an experience that is the source of his energy and creativity. Landscapes and flora – the different places Niam visits – are often an inspiration. They provide a tie to nature that features consistently throughout Niam’s body of work.

For this recent 2024 painting, ‘Roses’, Niam abstracts a of bed of roses as a multitude of colours painted with precision strokes, a complex layering and blending of colours. Niam likes the beauty of roses – the different colours and their different lengths. He often visits floral shops to create his own bouquet for our home. For Niam, roses represents love, friendship, gratitude, warmth and happiness – themes and feelings common to his impasto-style artwork.

Painting ‘Roses’, Niam’s demeanour was one of happiness and serenity mixed with a little excitement – I think, in anticipation of his finished work. He was aware of the camera and was excited that I was filming the first live video for his Instagram account. The video was well received, with hundreds of people tuning in, sending messages and, subsequently, following his account (do not forget to follow Niam with his Instagram handle: Niamjain_art).

‘Roses’, an abstraction of a landscape of roses, is a stunning painting that will bless your home with the purity of nature.
